Which Lens to buy? Canon 400 is lens L series or? The 200 mm l series has a f/2.8 and I can put a 1.4 converter. Do this or get a 100 to 400 which has f/4.5 to 5/6 ? I shoot outdoors at wildlife. Where I shoot, I can't use a tripod. Is the 200mm a better built lens and since that one would require a 1.4 or 2X extender, do the extenders harm the photo more than just reducing the f stop? Someone said that the 100 to 400 is better because since I have light outdoors, a 2.8 on the 200mm does not matter. I like the reach of the extra 100mm with the 100 to 400mm but with a 200 and a converter I can get the reach and only loose about 100mm but have a 2.8. Which one? I recommend getting either the 200mm lens without the converter or the 100-400mm lens (also without the converter). Converters reduce contrast and lower your lens one f/stop. Pictures without converters are much clearer and more natural looking.

The lens this comes with is okay for a generic starter, but you will quickly want to invest in a more high-end one based upon the type of photography you want to do.
