Which Lens to buy? Canon 400 is lens L series or?

The 200 mm l series has a f/2.8 and I can put a 1.4 converter. Do this or get a 100 to 400 which has f/4.5 to 5/6 ? I shoot outdoors at wildlife.

Does anyone know if the Marumi 52mm UV &#038; Haze Filter (Made in Japan) is any good?

I will be using the filter on an 18-55mm vr lens for my nikon D80 and am wondering if the filter is any good?

Do lens mount adapters work completely fine?

Obviously besides being able to use any electronic signals to your camera like with canon EOS lenses, is there any downside to using a mount adapter for lenses?
