Purple fringing on a macro shot taken with a Sony A350 using a Tamron 90mm macro lens. Why purple fringing ? I thought that was just an artifact produced by cheap point and shoot camera, so I'm really surprised to see it. Must be the nut behind the camera ! Believe me, it's there ! The first quick answer is that even DSLR's are not immune to purple fringing. Some are better than others. The thing that you can control with the equipment that you have is to get away from that f/2.8 aperture. Try even going to f/4 and see how it comes out. Keep going up the scale until you get rid of the fringe. I know you probably want to control the depth of field by using the f/2.8, but it's a choice you just have to make. hiniscostas is right, also. With high contrast scenes, you are more at risk. If you don't want to buy a plug in, you can just paint over the fringe with the inverse color set to about 5% opacity until the purple is gone. Use a very high magnification to do this, like 400%.
